My name is Brittany, and I embarked on my weight loss journey motivated by a desire to improve my overall health.

What was your motivation?
To be honest, my main focus was increasing my chances of fertility. I was also motivated to reverse a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. I wanted to be healthy, and gastric sleeve surgery was a permanent solution to my problem.

What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
The inspiration came from envisioning a healthier future for myself and those I care about, propelling me forward even when challenges arose.

How did you change your eating habits?
I adopted a balanced approach to transform my eating habits, incorporating nutrient-dense foods and eliminating processed ones. Following a personalized high-protein Bariatric plan helped me stay on track.

What was your workout routine?
In terms of workouts, I engaged in a mix of cardio, weight training, and Zumba weekly. Consistency was key, exercising regularly to achieve my goals.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 284 pounds, and my current weight is 136 pounds.

When did you begin your weight loss journey? Standing at 5’3″, I began this journey in September 2021, and my transformation continues daily.

Tell us about your decision to have weight loss surgery.
I opted for VSG surgery, a decision made in consultation with medical professionals to support my overall health goals. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made. It truly changed my life.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The most significant lesson learned is the importance of patience and persistence. Progress may be gradual, but staying committed yields lasting results.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
For women aspiring to lose weight, my advice is to set realistic goals, be completely honest with yourself, focus on sustainable changes, and prioritize both physical and mental well-being.

BWLW, Thank you for following my journey and inspiring other black women to get healthy and lose weight for better health.
